Here’s what’s coming up at Sacramento Children’s Museum!

 Upcoming Activities:

September is Literacy Monthsept

It’s Literacy Month at the Museum!
Interact with engaging guest storytellers, create bookmarks and crafts inspired by popular children’s books!
September 14: Don’t miss out on a special return visit from Roseville Library’s own story lady, Ms. Lisa! She is well known for packing in huge crowds each week for her festive costumes, fun props, and lively story telling! We are excited to see what magic she brings to SCM this time!  Story times at 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
September 15-17: Usborne Books will be hosting a book fair at SCM from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If you are in the market for high quality books for children of all ages, stop by and take a look!
The Museum will be OPEN Labor Day, Monday September 4, from 9AM-5PM!
Leo’s Amazing Racerace

Join us for a race unlike any other!
On October 1, from 2PM to 4PM, race around Rancho Cordova completing fun challenges and showing off your team’s superior skills – with many opportunities to win fun prizes!
If you are up to the task, assemble your team of four, in one of two divisions, Adults (16+) or Family.
Only $50 per team entry fee.
You could win the Grand Prize – tickets for four to DISNEYLAND!

Buccaneer Ballbuccball

Ahoy Matey!
Join us for the best mother and son dance party around! Search for “buried” treasure and hang out with pirates and mermaids at the Buccaneer Ball.  DJ dancing, museum play, light refreshments. Pirate and mermaid dress-up enthusiastically encouraged!

Talk Like a Pirate Daypirateday

Tuesday, September 19 is Talk Like a Pirate Day!
 
Join us for a pirate-themed story time at Noon and pirate activities throughout the day. PLUS- the Museum is offering $5 discounted admission for all guests who dress up like a pirate.
Grandparents Day Weekendgrandpa

In honor of National Grandparents Day, the Museum is offering all grandparents FREE admission on September 9 and 10, during business hours.

In August, Sacramento Children’s Museum is exploring Germany!
Classes take place every Thursday at 10:30AM

September 7: Discover German castles! Take a closer look at some amazing castles in Germany, and then create a castle collage using various art materials.

 
September 14: Travel to the Bavarian Alps! Explore these mountain ranges in the Bavarian state of Germany, then make a snowy mountain craft inspired by the Alps.
September 21: Celebrate Oktoberfest! Take part in our kid-friendly Oktoberfest activities, including traditional treats and dancing.

September 28: Listen to a story by the Brothers Grimm! Join us for a Story Time featuring a retelling of “The Town Musicians of Bremen,” a fairy tale by two of Germany’s best-known storytellers.

Museum members, every Thursday in September at 5:30PM, we will feature a story time!
Pizza Night FUNdraiserpizzanight

Enjoy a delicious pizza and support the Children’s Museum!
 

On Thursday, September 28, from 5PM to 8PM, have dinner at the Round Table Pizza on 10375 Folsom Blvd. and 20% of your total purchase will be donated back to the Museum!

Monster Bashmonster

Wear you best costume and come dance the night away…
 

At our annual Monster Bash, we’ll have a DJ and dancing, refreshments, and Museum play. Buy your tickets online or in-person at the Museum.

Friends, come trick-or-treat with us at SCM!
SPECIAL HOLIDAY HOURS! The Museum will be open for our special Halloween Trick-or-Treat event from 10AM to 2PM and closed for the rest of the day.
Join us for treat stations, a costume parade, and hands-on activities! We can’t wait see you in your best Halloween costume!

Blessings in a Backpack and SCM are partnering for a fun afternoon of music, vendors, beer garden, demonstrations, classic car club, food trucks, kid’s activities and more. All activities will be hosted in the lot adjacent to City Hall.
