Alameda College – Liberal Arts Building
The New Center for Liberal Arts (NCLA) will be the first new building in more than 20 years on the College of Alameda campus. It is a design-build public works project, subject to DSA requirements designed to exceed the equivalence of LEED Silver certification. The three-story 53,000 SF building will be the flagship building for the campus, which stands front and center off the main Alameda arterial, Webster Street. Increment 1 prepared the site for vertical construction and included: demolition, site clearing, rerouting underground utilities and installation of new infrastructure. Increment 2 began with piles, driven into the ground to support the impressive structure, which features expansive window walls, smart classrooms, computer labs and general staff facilities.
